Upcoming Google Nexus Phone Rumoured Under $100

Mid-Range Google Nexus Phone Rumoured

The Nexus series has seen some success, mostly among developers and Google geeks that want the pure Android experience. Until recently Google's next Nexus device would be the Nexus 6, a flagship phone that will replace the current LG Nexus 5. With these new rumours, Google is said to partner up with MediaTek to build an under $100 low to mid-range device. This device will most likely be sold alongside the Nexus 6 as a cheaper, more affordable model.

Now the phone is rumoured to have a MediaTek processor, 1 GB of RAM and 2/3G connectivity. The reasons behind such a project vary, and the success depends on how Google will market it. So far Nexus devices are not marketed as much as their competition. Maybe Google wants to target new developers that look for affordable devices, or perhaps the upcoming new smartphone users that are considering Android devices. After all the goal here is to attract users into Google's ecosystem, and what better way to achieve this goal than a Sub-$100 phone?

Google has proven before that great devices can come in a reasonable price. This time however we will have to wait, as the race is on for the spotlight in the emerging markets around the globe. Will this be a success, or pass unnoticed? Leave a comment below and tell me your opinion.

  1. Hope this is true.., Though the meh specs aren't really for me, I would be happy to see more affordable devices available especially from Google...

    1. This is definitely a wise move from Google, probably targeting new smartphone users. The specs are not for me either, however I am curious to see how this project will develop.
