Rivals at War: Firefight Game Review (AOD #187)

Rivals at War: Firefight

Hey guys! Today we will check out Rivals at War: Firefight, available on Android and iOS, made by Hothead Games. Rivals at War is essentially a card game that gives you the ability to use your soldiers in a real battle. This game is a solid attempt that gets most of the parts correctly, except perhaps the energy part.

"...essentially a card game that gives you the ability to use your soldiers in a real battle."

You start off with a team and build a better one as you progress through the game. The main aspect of the game is facing real opponents and winning battles in order to unlock and buy new cards to constantly upgrade your team. There is a variety of classes available, such as Commander, Sniper, Medic, SAW Gunner, Radioman and Breacher. Each one has different abilities and can be upgraded individually in addition to the appearance customisations available to purchase.

Despite the energy annoyance the gameplay is smooth and responsive, however the A.I of your team is not as intelligent as it should be. In addition to that it would be a great addition to be able to control and switch between your entire team. In the end Rivals at War: Firefight is  a great game to try out, but keep in mind that an internet connection is required at all times.

SCORE: 3.5 OUT OF 5
