Google vs Apple Round 2 - Nexus 4 vs Iphone 5

The affordable but hard find Nexus 4 and the latest smartphone from Apple, IPhone 5, go head to head in this comparison.

Google Nexus 4

This minimalistic Android phone is the best Google has to offer in looks, performance and appearance. At a hard to ignore under £300 price it is really an amazing deal for what it offers. With a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro clocked at 1.5 GHz and 2 GB of RAM you can do just about anything really smooth and fast. Plus it has NFC and supports wireless charging. On the downside lack of expandable storage limits you to 8 or 16 GB (you can always use cloud storage), camera performance is slightly not as good as the IPhone 5 and there is no 4G. But then again it's half the price of the IPhone 5 which gives it a great advantage.

Tech Specs:
Android 4.2
4.7 inch IPS Display, 1280×768 320ppi,
Quad core  Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro@ 1.5GHz
2 GB RAM
8 or 16GB storage (not expandable)
8 MP/1080 (rear camera)
1.3 MP (front camera)
Wi-Fi, 3G, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0
15hr battery
133.9×68.7×9.1mm; 139g

Apple Iphone 5

Elegant, sleek and premium are some of the words that describe the Iphone 5. It is expensive sure thing, but you get the build quality you pay for. That being said the edges are prone to scratches, iOS is getting well, not much different than previous versions, and its own Apple Maps are no good. Despite that the Iphone packs a dual core A6 chip and is the fastest Iphone out there with a larger screen (4 inches) compared to its predecessors (3.5 inches). The screen quality is great, slightly better than the Nexus 4 in terms of colour and contrast. It has a rear 8MP/1080p camera, probably one of the best in the market, and a 1.3MP front camera. It also supports 4G which is slowly gaining ground.

Tech Specs:
iOS 6
4inch IPS
1136x640, 326ppi
Dual Core A6 processor
1GB RAM
16 or 32 or 64GB storage (not expandable)
8MP/1080p (rear camera)
1.3MP (front camera)
Wi-Fi, 4G, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0
8hr battery
123.8x58.6x7.6mm, 112g

Verdict

It is obvious though that the Iphone is losing ground as now it doesn't feel as ground breaking as it once did and it is lacking features that would make it future proof such as NFC and Wireless charging. I would have to go with the Nexus 4, and a huge factor in my decision is the price. You can buy two Nexus 4 in the price of an Iphone 5 and it offers the same and more features  like NFC and wireless charging as well as 2GB of RAM and has a more interesting and intuitive OS. What would you choose?
